Dad Course Preview…
Not sure if The Dad Course is for you? While it’s really hard to pull out individual videos and give you a picture of all that you’ll get and learn we wanted to share a few Dad Course videos so you could get a feel for what you can expect on The Dad Course. So we’ve pulled four videos out that we think give you a decent feel for what to expect. They’re all part of different sessions, and aren’t designed to be stand-alone videos, but hopefully it helps give a better idea of the sort of info and feel you can expect if you sign up.
An Introduction To Labour: Early Warning Signs & What To Look Out For
In Session 1 of The Dad Course Dave tells his story of supporting his partner through her first labour, and draws out loads of useful tips, learning and practical advice to help you feel ready to support your partner when the time comes.
In this preview video Dave talks through the what happens immediately before labour, including some common warning signs of labour that you and your partner can look out for.
Everything Nappies/Diapers, Changing, Baby Poo & Cleaning Them Up - A Complete How-To Guide
In Session 2 The Dad Course moves beyond labour, covering mentally preparing for becoming a dad and the most basic practical skills you’re going to need to know for caring for a baby - how to pick them up, carry them, change them and dress them.
In this preview video Dave helps two nappy changing newbies become clued-up nappy changing ninjas! As well as showing you how to clean up and change a baby, this video talks you through everything you need to know in regards to baby poo and much more!
An Introduction To How Babies Feed (for both breast and bottle feeding)
Session 3 delves into some broader topics while also teaching you further important practical skills including how to bath a baby and feed and burp a baby. In this video Dave explains some of the basic ‘mechanics’ of how a baby feeds. Did you know they don’t suck the nipple, but lap at it?! You do now! This video covers this sort of important info, and much more, and lays the foundation for the following videos on how to support with breastfeeding and how to bottle feed.
Session 3 also offers an unvarnished and honest insight into what you can expect your partner to go through in the first week or two, and how you can support them practically and emotionally. Important stuff!
How To Comfort A Baby When They Won’t Stop Crying
Session 4 concludes The Dad Course by covering some final practical skills and addressing some of the broader topics of parenting. Things like considering how to make the most of paternity leave, how your relationship might change, how having a baby might affect your work, and much more. We also think about how you can keep yourself well (and calm!) as a parent despite all the crying (see video here) and the lack of sleep.
Bonus Video: New Dad’s Stories on How To Support Your Partner
The Dad Course also includes more than two hours of bonus content, allowing you to delve deeper into particular topics you want more information on or to hear real stories from real dads about their experiences. These usually contain a good mix of wisdom, honesty and humour!
In this bonus video Dan and Jeronne, two dads, discuss their experience of what supporting their partners was like in those first weeks and months of fatherhood.
Hopefully these collected snippets give you a good picture of the sort of content you can expect from The Dad Course. If you sign up for the full course you’ll instantly receive access to all four Dad Course sessions and the bonus content. This gives you the chance to work through all the content in a logical order that will give you everything you need for fatherhood. Dads tell us they love it, and we’re confident you will too…
